Text symbol

What 푼 means

It means a tiny sum or a Korean coin unit.

A 1517 Korean translation of Nogoldae, a Chinese-language guidebook, records 푼. The word is related to 분 (分), “a part” or “division.” One coin was one 푼, also called 문 (文) or 엽 (葉). In 1894, 100 푼 equaled one 냥; in 1901, 푼 and 문 ceased to be legal units.

How do I type 푼?

On a Korean keyboard, type ㅍ, ㅜ, then ㄴ.

The Korean IME joins them into one syllable.
