What 퐎 means
It is a Korean syllable; a word gives it meaning.
A Hangul block brings together an initial consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant. Here those parts are ㅍ, ㅘ, and ㄶ. These individual Hangul letters are called jamo.
The 1443 proclamation 훈민정음 introduced Hangul, and an explanatory book appeared in 1446. The new writing system aimed to make Korean speech and grammar easier to write than with Chinese characters. It was also called 언문 (“vernacular writing”) and 국문 (“national writing”); by 1928, Hangeul was widespread.
Why does 퐎 look different?
The same syllable can appear as one block or separate letters.
Unicode can represent 퐎 as one precomposed character or as its component jamo. NFD exposes the parts, while NFC normally recomposes them. If a font or app shapes the parts differently, the representation changes, not the intended syllable.
Neutral in Korean spelling; alone in a message, it reads as an isolated syllable or lookup request.
