Hangul syllable 퓃

10436/11172

On the standard Korean Dubeolsik layout, switch to Korean input and type VNPT to form 퓃. It is a Hangul syllable block made from an initial consonant, a vowel, and a final consonant; by itself, it has no dependable message or translation. Hangul was created to write Korean more directly, and an early manuscript explained the new script.

What 퓃 means

On the standard Korean Dubeolsik keyboard, type VNPT. V enters ㅍ, N followed by P forms ㅞ, and T adds final ㅅ, composing 퓃.

What does 퓃 mean?

Read 퓃 in its Korean context; alone, it has no fixed message. Its three Hangul jamo (letters that combine into a syllable block) are ᄑ as the initial consonant, ᅰ as the vowel, and ᆺ as the final consonant. “pwes” is the Unicode name’s Latin-script label for that construction, not a Korean word to translate.

Hangul was developed in 1443 to represent Korean speech and grammar more directly than Chinese characters allowed. The manuscript 훈민정음, which explained the new script, was published in 1446. Hangul later spread through writing by commoners, women’s letters, Buddhist texts, and popular novels, then entered official documents during the Gabo reforms in 1894. South Korea calls the script Hangul; North Korea commonly calls it Chosŏn'gŭl.

Neutral as a Hangul character; the surrounding Korean text determines the tone.

On its own, 퓃 does not signal a dependable mood or reply.

No. It is a Hangul text syllable assembled from Korean letters.

Why does 퓃 look different in another font?

Hangul fonts can position the consonant and vowel shapes differently inside the block. The character remains 퓃.

No. “pwes” is a Latin-script label in the Unicode name, built from the syllable’s component letters; it is not a Korean word or translation.

Why is 퓃 a box on my screen?

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
