What 랦 means
Alone, 랦 marks one syllable; its Korean word supplies the meaning. Hangul groups letters into a single syllable block. Unicode’s structural label “raelp” follows the initial ᄅ, vowel ᅢ and final ᆵ. In Korean 2-set input, the ending is entered as ㄿ, the cluster ㄹ ㅍ.
How did Hangul take this block shape?
Hangul was designed to write Korean sounds with its own letters. Earlier practices such as Idu, hyangchal and gugyeol adapted Chinese characters to write or annotate Korean. Under King Sejong, Hangul grouped its letters into syllable blocks to make the system easier to learn and use.
The system is first recorded in late 1443; the 1446 Hunminjeongeum book explained its letters and how to use them. It became the official national writing system in 1894, and “Hangeul” became a widely used name in 1928. South Korean sources commonly call the script 한글; Unicode 17.0 lists 조선글 as the preferred North Korean term.
How do I type 랦?
Type the four parts on a Korean 2-set keyboard. Enter ㄹ, ㅐ, ㄹ, then ㅍ; the input method combines them into 래 랠 랦. Its QWERTY keys are F, O, F, V.
Font rendering can change the components’ spacing or proportions inside the block without changing the character it represents.
Neutral in running text; isolated, it reads like a spelling or input sample.
A bare 랦 is best read as a syllable sample; wait for its Korean word context before assigning an exact meaning.

1Why does 랦 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
