What 렀 means
It has no complete meaning by itself. An isolated 렀 is incomplete Korean text, not a reaction or mood marker.
In 흘렀다 (“flowed”) and 불렀다 (“called” or “sang”), 렀 is part of an inflected form; the surrounding word supplies the meaning.
Why does Hangul use syllable blocks?
To write Korean speech in a learnable native script.
The first record is from 1443; the 1446 Hunminjeongeum explains sound and syllable rules. Hangul coexisted with Hanja before becoming modern Korea’s main script; 렀 is assembled from Hangul jamo, not borrowed from Chinese.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
