What 릺 means
It spells one Korean syllable. The Hangul block 릺 combines ㄹ, ㅣ, and final ㄿ, a two-consonant ending also found in 읊다, the Korean verb “to recite.”
King Sejong created Hangul in 1443; its 1446 guide, Hunminjeongeum, explained how consonants and vowels form syllables so Koreans could write their language without difficult adaptations of Chinese characters. Hangul later carried Buddhist and Confucian texts, letters, and practical books. It became Korea’s official writing system in 1894; Japanese rule ended that status in 1910.
