Hangul syllable Ryelt

롍 is a Korean Hangul syllable block, not a word with a fixed translation. Unicode’s “Ryelt” label names its written form; the Korean word or sentence around it supplies the meaning.

What 롍 means

It is built from 례 and final cluster ᆴ. Hangul groups a starting consonant, a vowel, and sometimes an ending consonant in one square block. Here, the ending cluster is ㄹㅌ.

When was Hangul created?

King Sejong’s court created Hangul in Joseon Korea in 1443. Its explanatory book, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446, showing how consonants and vowels combine into syllables. Hangul was designed to make Korean easier for ordinary people to write than with Chinese characters.
