Hangul Syllable Sak

5317/11172

샄 is a Korean Hangul syllable block made from initial ㅅ, vowel ㅏ, and final ㅋ. Its meaning in a message depends on the Korean text around it; a Korean input method can assemble the block by entering those jamo in order.

What 샄 means

By itself, 샄 is a syllable shape, not a complete word. Its parts are initial ㅅ, vowel ㅏ, and final ㅋ. No common standalone word or chat convention for this exact block was established as of 2026-09-13; if it arrives alone, ask what word or message the sender intended.

How did Hangul syllable blocks begin?

Hangul was designed as a learnable writing system for Korean. King Sejong created it in 1443 so Korean could be written with a system intended to be easier to learn and use; at the time, many people relied on Chinese characters to write Korean. In 1446, the book Hunminjeongeum explained the new script’s purpose and principles.

Hangul’s consonant and vowel letters, called jamo, combine into compact square syllable blocks. Each block groups the parts of a Korean syllable into one written unit.
