What 숭 means
The full Korean word supplies the meaning. 숭배 means “worship”; 숭늉 is a drink made from water poured over scorched rice. 崇, 嵩, 崧, and 菘 are Hanja (Chinese characters used in Korean), all read 숭. Mixed Hangul–Hanja text could show a word’s root; Hangul-only text relies on context. Hangul-only became South Korea’s norm by the 1990s. Hangul was designed to write Korean speech; records date to 1443, and its 1446 guide explains the design.

Questions people ask
1Why does 숭 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
