What 톃 means
Treat a lone 톃 as a fragment.
Each Hangul block represents one Korean syllable. Unicode breaks 톃 into initial consonant ᄐ, vowel ᅧ, and final consonant ᇂ.
Hangul was devised in 1443 to make Korean easier to write; its guide, Hunminjeongeum, appeared in 1446. Earlier systems—idu, gugyeol, hyangchal—adapted Chinese characters to Korean speech. Hangul later shared writing with Chinese characters and faced resistance. This is script history, not the origin of this block.
