What 틜 means
Enter ㅌ, ㅡ, ㅣ, then ㄹ in a Korean IME.
With Korean input enabled, the IME combines ㅡ and ㅣ into the vowel ㅢ, then places ㄹ at the end to form the block.
If 틜 appears as separate jamo, the text may contain separate jamo or the app or font may not shape Hangul syllables as expected. That display difference does not give the syllable a new meaning.
What does 틜 mean on its own?
It spells a Korean syllable; its word-level meaning depends on context.
Hangul is the Korean alphabet. Its letters, called jamo, are arranged into blocks that spell syllables. In 틜, ㅌ is the initial consonant, ㅢ the vowel, and ㄹ the final consonant. Read it with surrounding Korean text to see which word or expression it belongs to.
When was Hangul devised?
Hangul was devised under King Sejong in late 1443.
The 1446 Hunminjeongeum manuscript, an introduction to the writing system, explained its letters and how initial, middle, and final parts form syllables. Hangul was designed to represent Korean speech and teach its letters.
Modern Korean spelling conventions draw on a 1933 unified proposal and were partly revised in 1988.

Questions people ask
1Why does 틜 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
