What 윫 means
On Korean 2-set, press D, B, F, then Q.
Those keys enter ㅇ, ㅠ, ㄹ, and ㅂ in order. The initial ㅇ, vowel ㅠ, and final consonant cluster ㄹㅂ (the batchim, or bottom consonants) make one Hangul block; “yulb” labels this assembly rather than a Korean word.
What does 윫 mean when someone sends it?
Start with it as a character sample; context gives the clue.
윫 is a Hangul text character, not an emoji. Inside a Korean word or name, the surrounding spelling supplies its meaning. If it arrives alone, ask whether it is a spelling example, an input test, or a font sample.
Why was Hangul created?
To represent Korean more directly than Chinese characters could.
Before Hangul, Korean writers used Chinese characters and adapted systems such as Idu, Gugyeol, and Hyangchal to write Korean. The first record of Hangul is dated 1443; the explanatory book Hunminjeongeum (“Correct Sounds for the Instruction of the People”) appeared in 1446. The script spread through Buddhist and Confucian translations, practical books, personal letters, and official use; it became Korea’s national writing system in 1894. The name Hangeul became widely used in 1928.
A technical Hangul character, suited to spelling examples, input tests, and font samples.
Treat a lone 윫 as a character sample until context identifies its role.

It usually means the font or text path cannot display this Hangul block. A font with Hangul coverage should render it; the character itself remains 윫.
