What 〿 means
It marked space left by a split character on screen.
Some older systems represented East Asian characters using two bytes, or units of computer data. When a character was split in the display, 〿 served as a visible filler. “Half fill” refers to that technical display role, not to half a word or half the meaning of a written character.
It does not work as ordinary spacing between words. If you need the full-width blank used in East Asian typography, that is the ideographic space, U3000.

Questions people ask
1Why do I see a box instead of 〿?
Your font may not support this character. A missing-character box is a substitute supplied by the font or software, not the intended appearance of 〿. A font that includes it can display the actual mark.
