What 𞱳 means
It is the sign for three. Basic Siyaq signs are stylized Arabic number names; Indic-language words supply larger units such as thousands.
How did Siyaq enter the account books?
It grew as specialist accounting shorthand. A 15th-century manuscript preserves a broader Siyaq account of Baghdad revenues dated 918–19. Indic Siyaq was common in Mughal accounts by the 17th century and remained in use into the middle of the 20th. Officials, merchants, landholders, and irrigation staff used it. Its compressed signs were difficult for untrained readers, and some accounts paired Siyaq with Indian numerals to make falsification harder.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𞱳 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
