What ꦕ means
It writes the Javanese consonant ca.
The consonant sounds like “ch” in “church.” Its built-in vowel is usually “a,” sometimes closer to “o” in Javanese words; a vowel sign changes it. Pangkon (꧀) silences that vowel; before ꦕ, it lets the letter join a consonant cluster.
Its script grew through older traditions
Javanese writing descends through Brahmi and Pallava to Kawi, an older script used in Java around the 8th through 15th centuries. Modern forms emerged in the 14th–15th centuries and served religious, legal, literary, and everyday writing.
In 2022, Javanese script appeared in local teaching and Yogyakarta signage; Latin script served practical writing.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꦕ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Javanese block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
