What ꦮ means
Its consonant can appear as a subjoined form in clusters.
A vowel sign can change the built-in a. In clusters, a subjoined form called pasangan places the next consonant below the preceding letter and cancels that letter’s vowel.
Old Javanese inscriptions dated 743 and 787 CE attest to the language, not this exact glyph. Javanese script developed from Kawi, an older regional script, between the 14th and 15th centuries. A traditional Javanese legend links the alphabet’s four rows to Aji Saka. The script remained in Java until about 1945; Bahasa Indonesia became the national language in 1928 and helped eclipse it.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꦮ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
