What 𑂭 means
A hissing consonant articulated with the tongue curled back.
Kaithi is a historic North Indian script; this rare ssa letter is attested.
Maithili and Magahi specimens write one word with Sa and Sha. Some Hindi varieties pronounce Ssa as Kha, a k with a puff of breath. Kaithi and Devanagari developed in parallel from an older common source. A copperplate linked to Chandradeva, active around 1090, may be Kaithi's earliest witness if correctly identified. Kaithi served administration, trade, correspondence, and literature. Official use ran from the 16th to the early 20th century. 17th-century manuscripts survive; Devanagari eventually eclipsed the script.

1Why does 𑂭 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Kaithi block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
