What 𑽘 means
It means eight in Kawi. Kawi, descended from Pallava (an older South Indian script), was used across island Southeast Asia from the 8th to 16th centuries for Old Javanese, Sanskrit, Old Malay, Old Balinese, and Old Sundanese. Plumpungan in Central Java is the earliest known Kawi inscription, c. 750 CE.
Early Kawi recorded land grants and royal edicts; later it carried Old Javanese literature. Numeral shapes changed sharply by the 14th century. As of 2026, the earliest certain Javanese decimal-numeral specimen (841 CE) dates the series, not this digit's first appearance.
