What 𑽓 means
It is the Kawi numeral for three. In Kawi writing, it marks the number three.
A 2025 study traces the Kawi digit three's ancestry through Srivijaya numerals. It identifies an earlier ancestor for three on the Kayumwungan Inscription, dated Saka 746; the inscription's language attribution is disputed.
Kawi developed from Pallava writing, and later Javanese and Balinese scripts descend from Kawi. Kawi numerals served practical number writing in inscriptions, copper-plate charters, and manuscripts. The documented script history changes the numeral's shape while its value remains three.
Why does 𑽓 sometimes show as a box?
A font without Kawi support is the likely cause.
Unicode identifies the character, but a font must draw it. The 2022 implementation note treats Kawi font, shaping, keyboard, and line-breaking support as separate implementation work; assignment alone does not ensure a visible glyph.
If it appears as a square or blank, use a Kawi-capable font. Using 3 or another script's numeral changes the character.
Documentary and neutral; it belongs in Kawi numeral writing.
A blank box points to font support, not a different value.

1Why does 𑽓 show as a box on some devices?
It is recent: Unicode added it in version 15.0 (2022), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
