What 𑽑 means
It is Kawi’s numeral for one.
Kawi developed gradually from the Pallava script, with late Pallava and early Kawi forms overlapping. The Plumpungan stele, around 750 CE, is identified as the oldest record of early Kawi. From the mid-8th century, Kawi was used for land grants, royal edicts, and similar official documents. By the end of the first millennium, literary use had made the script more decorative and calligraphic.
Kawi was used to write Old Javanese, Sanskrit, Old Malay, Old Balinese, and Old Sundanese, with materials found across Java, Sumatra, the Malay Peninsula, Bali, and the Philippines. Later regional Kawi forms evolved into or contributed to scripts such as Javanese and Balinese. A 2020 Unicode proposal also recorded Kawi revival use in social-app chats and image posts. Unicode added the character in 2022; that is its digital encoding date, not the digit’s historical origin.
What does it mean when someone sends 𑽑?
Read it as the numeral one or a Kawi sample.
If it arrives alone, read it as one unless the context points to a character sample. Using this script-specific digit suggests Kawi, historical writing, or preservation context; it does not by itself set a chat mood.
Formal, historical, or typographic; it signals Kawi-script context rather than everyday chat tone.
Without a Kawi-capable font, a recipient may see a missing-glyph box.

1Why does 𑽑 show as a square?
A missing-glyph box usually means your font or fallback lacks a Kawi outline. The character is still present in the text; font support determines whether it can be drawn.
