What ꤂ means

Use a Kayah Li layout or Unicode character tool.

For regular writing, use a script-specific keyboard layout; for one-off input, enter UA902 in a Unicode-capable character tool. Display also requires a font with Kayah Li coverage.

What does ꤂ mean?

It represents the number two in Kayah Li writing.

The writing system was devised by Htae Bu Phae in March 1962, after Roman-letter and Burmese-based spellings did not adequately represent Kayah sounds and identity. It aimed to provide a shared written form for Kayah and related Karen languages.

Kayah Li's letter order and some shapes reflect Myanmar writing traditions within the wider Brahmi-derived family of scripts, rooted in South Asia; most forms were developed independently. The Kayah Literature Association formed in 1975, and the Karen National Progressive Party declared Kayah Li a national alphabet in 1976. Schoolbooks, dictionaries, and magazines circulated in the 1980s, while refugee camps in Thailand became an important setting for Kayah Li literacy. Unicode encoding in 2008 made the character usable in digital text.

Why does ꤂ show as a box?

Font coverage is the likely cause.

A Kayah Li font can draw the glyph; without one, you may see a missing-glyph box or blank space. The same text can look different between apps if their fonts cover different characters.

In Kayah Li writing, it is an ordinary numeral; elsewhere, it reads as a deliberate script choice and can signal a connection to Kayah language or identity.

In mixed-language text, it may look like an intentional Kayah Li reference rather than a styled Latin 2.
