Khitan Small Script Character-18CC8

457/471

𘳈 is a Khitan Small Script character; its catalog name identifies the entry, not a word translation, and the script is only partly deciphered. Developed around 925, the script is traditionally credited to Yelü Diela and said to draw on Uyghur writing. Its earliest dated text is from 1053 and latest from 1175. It had a contemporary counterpart, Khitan Large Script; surviving examples include tomb inscriptions, monuments and objects.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𘳈 show as a box on some devices?

It is recent: Unicode added it in version 13.0 (2020), and phones and computers whose fonts are older than that have nothing to draw it with. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
