What ᧠ means
It identifies Ashadha’s first occurrence.
Ashadha is month eight. When it repeats to keep lunar dates aligned with the solar year, ᧠ marks the first and the second. Other signs mark waxing and waning days.
A 2002 proposal reported daily use in Cambodia, though then-current Khmer encoding lacked lunar-date support. Cambodian Treasury headings show Ashadha month names in 2026.

1Why does ᧠ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
