What 𝛋 means
The formula assigns this bold Greek kappa its role. It is the bold upright math form of lowercase Greek κ. The 1999 Unicode proposal for mathematical alphabets records that researchers already used letter styles to distinguish variables and sought to preserve those meanings in plain text. Bold variables can denote vectors in physics and engineering, but bold kappa has no universal assigned quantity.
Why does bold kappa turn into κ?
Compatibility normalization can erase its mathematical style. Unicode's compatibility cleanup forms, NFKC and NFKD, map 𝛋 to ordinary κ; canonical forms, NFC and NFD, leave the mathematical character intact. If a font lacks this supplementary math glyph, display may fall back to another font or show a missing-glyph box; the stored character is unchanged.
