What 𝚇 means
It marks a distinct mathematical X. The formula defines its role; the letter alone has no fixed value. “Monospace” means each character takes the same width.
This style is intended for math or technical notation.
Why did math get separate letter styles?
To preserve distinctions formulas already used. In 1991, ISO published a report on named character sets for math and science publishing.
By 1999, STIX (Scientific and Technical Information Exchange) said mathematical letter styles were already in use and proposed separate encoded letters to preserve their meanings in web text.

𝚇\1D687Why is 𝚇 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
Codes and encoding1 code points
