What 𑊄 means
It writes the k consonant, usually with an unwritten a. Multani is a writing system used around Multan in Punjab and northern Sindh for the Seraiki language. In running text, consonants normally include an unwritten a; other vowels are generally not marked, so the word and source style settle the reading.
The earliest dated print record described for Multani is the New Testament, printed in 1819. Specimens dated 1819–1916 show two print fonts and visibly different handwriting; Multani had no standard form. Its encoded outline is an idealized form that unites those styles, leaving variant shapes to fonts. This is a regional writing tradition that evolved, not one invented sign with a permanent outline.
Why was the Multani script used?
It served routine and commercial writing before literary printing. That puts 𑊄 in a working writing system.
In the early 19th century, the Baptist Missionary Press cast metal type and printed Christian works in Multani; its first book was the New Testament in 1819. In the latter half of the 19th century, British administration promoted Arabic script as the standard for Sindh’s languages, and Multani declined.
Multani follows the Landa model and is related to scripts such as Khudawadi, Khojki, and Gurmukhi. As of 2026, Bahauddin Zakariya University describes Saraiki as written in Pakistan with a Perso-Arabic alphabet, and in India with Gurmukhi and Devanagari.
What does 𑊄 mean in a message?
Alone, it points to Multani writing, not a mood. If someone sends it without a Multani word around it, read it as a reference to the script or its history.
Within a word, read it as the ka consonant and let the word supply other vowels. Beside another Multani consonant, it may form part of a cluster written as separate letters; Multani does not use conjunct glyphs.
Historical and specialist; alone, it reads as a reference to Multani or Seraiki writing.
Without a Multani word or sentence, don’t assume 𑊄 gives a complete reading.

2Why does 𑊄 show as a box?
The active font lacks a Multani glyph. Use a font with Multani coverage; changing the app does not change the character.
Can I tell which vowel 𑊄 has by itself?
No. Multani generally leaves vowels unmarked, so the surrounding word and source style settle the reading.
