What 𑊣 means
It represents the l sound, as in “leaf,” in Multani writing.
Multani grew from Landa, a family of scripts used for regional business, in the 18th century. Also called Karikki or Sarai, it wrote Saraiki, a language spoken in eastern Pakistan. Its first book, a New Testament, appeared in 1819.
In the latter half of the 19th century, British administrators made Arabic script standard for languages in Sindh, contributing to Multani’s decline. Khudawadi is another distant script relative.
