What 𝅒 means
A notehead shape, not a complete note. It is the head of a note: pitch comes from where it sits on the staff, and rhythm comes from the stem, flags or beams attached to it. Pasted alone into a message, it carries only the shape.
Its best-documented job is a teaching trick from American shape-note singing. The Easy Instructor of 1801 printed notes in four shapes so singers could learn solfège — the do-re-mi syllables — before standard round-note notation. Jesse B. Aikin's 1846 tunebook The Christian Minstrel expanded the set to seven and gave the moon-white head to 're.' Funk and Walker seven-shape systems use their own moon variants, so the syllable depends on the book.
Specialist notation, not a chat symbol — pasted into a message it reads as a scrap of sheet music, not a moon.
Do not call every moon-shaped notehead 're'; that reading belongs to Aikin's system.

Questions people ask
2Can this symbol always be read as re?
No. The 're' reading belongs to Aikin's seven-shape system; other shape-note books assign moon heads differently, and outside that tradition it is simply an alternate notehead.
Why does it look different in a font, or show as a box?
Many everyday fonts skip this rare character, so it can render as an empty box. A font with musical-symbol coverage, such as a SMuFL score font, draws the intended hollow moon.
