What 𛆱 means
A Jiangyong syllable; its sentence supplies the word.
Unicode lists its romanized Jiangyong reading as ie44. A Nüshu syllable may represent several homophonous local words, so a message containing only 𛆱 has no certain English translation.
How did Nüshu take shape?
It let local women write speech and share songs.
Nüshu adapted Han-character forms to write Jiangyong speech, which many women could not write in Han characters. Its oldest known artifact is a Taiping-era coin die (1851–1864) with a Nüshu motto: “All women in the world are one family.” By the late twentieth century, few fluent writers remained; preservation brought wider attention.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛆱 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
