What 𛈑 means
One spoken syllable; context supplies the word.
One sign can represent several local words that sound alike (homophones); its sentence or sung verse tells you which.
How did women use Nüshu?
Nüshu differs from Chinese writing: its slender forms adapt Chinese characters but record local speech. Women in Jiangyong County, Hunan, developed this script where many had limited access to literacy in standard Chinese characters. Historically, they wrote autobiographies, sworn-sister letters, songs, and sanzhaoshu: good-wish booklets given to brides three days after their weddings.
Historically, texts were also sung or embroidered on cloth and fans. Since 2003, Jiangyong workshops have taught Nüshu; in 2006, China listed it as national intangible cultural heritage.

1Why does 𛈑 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
