What 𛈽 means
It records a sound, not one fixed word. Unicode’s informative reading spells it tsiang42; the final digits mark its tone. Nüshu usually represents spoken syllables, and one syllable can match several words that sound alike. The surrounding line resolves which one is meant.
What did women write in Nüshu?
Women used it to share writing and song. Its shapes draw on Han Chinese characters but usually record sounds. Many women had little access to formal Han-character schooling; Nüshu carried local poems, letters, and wedding booklets among friends and “sworn sisters,” women joined by choice in sister-like bonds. A Taiping Heavenly Kingdom coin (1851–1864) bears the oldest known inscription, calling women everywhere one family. By the late twentieth century few fluent practitioners remained; wider attention later spurred preservation.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛈽 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
