What 𛉒 means
It writes tsi42; context supplies the word.
The Jiangyong dialect is spoken in Hunan. Unicode pairs 𛉒 with tsi42 and Chinese spellings such as 残 and 齐 for different same-sounding words.
Why did women use Nüshu?
It gave women a way to write the speech they shared.
Nüshu let women with little access to formal Chinese literacy write their local speech. Adapted from Chinese characters, it recorded songs, stories, letters and cloth wedding booklets given to brides three days after marriage.
The earliest known artifact is a Taiping-era coin (1851–64) with a Nüshu line about women as one family. A 1931 account and 1933 Hunan survey are early records; heritage revival work was under way by 2025.

1Why does 𛉒 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
