What 𛊏 means
It marks the Nüshu syllable ti44. The digits mark tone in a romanized reading of Jiangyong speech; they are not a word to translate. Nüshu signs adapted Chinese-character shapes to write local speech. In a line, context separates words that sound alike and share a sign.
Women in Jiangyong used Nüshu for letters between sworn sisters (women who had chosen a close sister-like bond), songs, biographies and wedding books given to a bride three days after marriage. Nüshu texts were learned and performed through singing, a practice recorded in 2010. A bronze token attributed to the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom (1851–1864) bears an inscription, but was hand-engraved rather than struck for circulation; the earliest written description dates to 1931. As of 2025, local and national authorities were working to revive the script.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𛊏 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Nushu block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
