What 𛋯 means
The listed reading is moe33, a local sound value, not an English gloss.
Nüshu is a writing system for local speech in Jiangyong, Hunan, not a separate spoken language. One sign can match several words pronounced alike, so the surrounding line gives 𛋯 its sense. In moe33, the numbers mark the local tone.
Why did women write Nüshu?
It let local women write their speech and share it.
The script adapted Chinese character forms into signs for Jiangyong syllables. Where many women had little access to schooling in standard Chinese characters, they used Nüshu for letters, life stories, poems, and songs. A “third-day letter” was a poem booklet friends gave a bride three days after her wedding.
Nüshu texts were traditionally sung or chanted as well as written. UNESCO places the script’s emergence in the nineteenth century; the earliest documentary notices date to the early 1930s. Since the 1980s, public research and heritage work have accompanied its older role in women’s local writing.

1Why does 𛋯 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
