What 𐍓 means
It is the Old Permic letter for the d sound.
Abur (also Anbur) wrote the Komi and Komi-Permyak languages; its name joins An and Bur, the first two letter names.
Why was Abur used as a cipher?
Most Russian readers could not read Old Permic.
Stephen of Perm devised Abur in the 14th century for Christian texts in Komi. It blends Greek and Cyrillic forms with Komi tamga signs (religious marks). Icon inscriptions and a bishop's 1474 signature survive. Letterforms and inventory shifted over three centuries. From the 15th century, Russian writers encoded their language in it because most readers could not read the script. By the end of the 17th century, Cyrillic largely displaced it for Komi. In Perm, Abur letters appeared in decorative crafts and souvenirs by 2019.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐍓 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Old Permic block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
