What 🗭 means
Private inner voice—a thought not said aloud. Cloud outline plus a trail of small circles means thinking; a pointed tail means speech. Comics used it to narrate a mind: Japanese manga research traces printed balloons before 1923, and one sits on page 1 of Action Comics #8 (January 4, 1939). By the 1990s, superhero comics had moved inner monologue into caption boxes, making the cloud look vintage. Unicode added it in 2014 among dingbat-style bubbles from the Wingdings and Webdings fonts.
Inward, comic-flavored—an aside, not dialogue.
For spoken words, use a speech bubble instead.
