What 𐹡 means
It is the Rumi numeral for two.
Rumi is non-positional: each sign keeps its value wherever placed. Its roots lie in Coptic (a late form of Egyptian written mainly in Greek letters) or Greek-Coptic numerals; when it became distinct is uncertain.
North African use is attested by the 10th century; Rumi numerals also served al-Andalus (Muslim-ruled Iberia). They marked pages, chapters, and quires (page bundles), accounts, mathematical texts, astronomical instruments, and Fez administration.
Why does the Rumi form differ from 2?
Rumi shapes changed by period and region.
This model is linked to mathematician Ibn al-Banna and North African manuscripts. Siyaq is a separate regional accounting notation.
