What 𐹪 means
It means twenty. It is one dedicated sign for the whole value in the Rumi (also called Fasi) numeral system, not a modern digit 2 that needs a zero.
The earliest surviving mention of Rumi signs is in a book on Indian arithmetic completed in Damascus in 952–53 CE by al-Uqlidisi. Records show Rumi use across Egypt, the Maghreb and al-Andalus from the tenth to seventeenth centuries. The system is linked to Coptic or Greek-Coptic number traditions; Coptic is the final stage of Egyptian writing, based on Greek letters.
Why did people use Rumi numerals?
For records and calculations. Their dedicated signs gave writers a compact way to record quantities. They appear in page numbers, chapter and quire marks (labels for bundles of manuscript pages), religious and scientific texts, accounting and mathematics books, and astronomical instruments.
Rumi notation is decimal and additive: each sign has a value, and signs in a number are added. Abjad notation uses alphabet letters as number signs; Siyaq is a separate accounting style using stylized Arabic number names. No Rumi examples are known in al-Andalus after the thirteenth century, while Moroccan accountants used the system into the twentieth century.
How do I type 𐹪?
Use a Unicode hexadecimal input method. Enter code point 10E6A; some methods require the “U” prefix. If the character appears as a box, use a font that covers Rumi Numeral Symbols. Input method and font coverage are separate issues.
A historical notation for written records and calculations; ordinary modern number writing uses 20.
Read the whole sign as twenty, not as a digit 2 awaiting a zero.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𐹪 look different across manuscripts?
The reference shape follows a copy of a Rumi arithmetic manuscript by Ibn al-Banna, a Moroccan mathematician. Historical manuscripts show different outlines, so no single handwritten form is universal.
