What 𐹫 means
It represents thirty as a whole value. Rūmī is Arabic for “Roman”; Fasi is another name. Al-Uqlīdisī’s arithmetic book, completed in Damascus in 952–53 CE, is the earliest surviving mention. It attests to use, not invention; later forms varied across al-Andalus and the Maghreb.
Why were Rumi numerals used?
They recorded amounts and marked manuscripts. They numbered pages, marked chapters and quires (bundles of folded sheets), and appeared in scientific writing and astronomical instruments. Historically, they connect to Coptic and Greek-Coptic numerals; links to zimām and Mozarabic/Toledan forms are possible. In Morocco, legal and commercial use lasted until about the seventeenth century.
Font support varies.
An empty box means the font lacks this glyph; its value stays thirty.
