What ᛄ means
The poem connects Ger with harvest and shared abundance. It says heaven gives bright fruit to rich and poor alike. That Christian image belongs to the poem, not one timeless mystical definition.
The poem may date from the 8th–10th centuries.
Why does Ger have a second rune form?
Runic writing appears in the historical record from the first century. The Anglo-Saxon futhorc, an expanded runic alphabet for Old English and Old Frisian, developed about the 5th century. Its angular forms suited carving in wood and stone.
Unicode 16.0 describes ᛄ as a rare Ger form; it assigns the more common form to a separate character, ᛡ Ior.
Historical and scholarly, with ties to runic writing and Old English.

Questions people ask
1Why does ᛄ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Runic block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
