runic tvimadur symbol

Tvimadur Symbol

80/89

ᛯ marked dates of new moons in the 18th year of a 19-year cycle used to calculate Easter; golden number 18 was that year’s label. It was a calendar abbreviation, not a spelling rune.

What ᛯ means

No; it marked a calendar number.

Calendars used the 16-rune Younger Futhark alphabet, then added three signs for the cycle’s remaining numbers. A Swedish account describes them as abbreviations used in calendars and rhyme-staves (stick-shaped calendars). The earliest known runic calendars date to the late thirteenth century in Sweden.

Outside runic-calendar discussions, ᛯ has no established everyday message meaning as of 2026.
