What ⍽ means
It labels a no-break space; it is not whitespace itself. A technical example can use ⍽ to show where the invisible space belongs. The character stays visible; it does not insert that space or prevent a line break.
Unicode records its keyboard-symbol lineage in ISO 9995-7, a standard for keyboard signs. In a 2016 CommonMark discussion about marking spaces in technical examples, ⍽ appeared among candidate symbols; participants also preferred other marks.
