What 𝤖 means
It records one bend at the finger’s middle joint. The mark sits near the hand shape, and its placement identifies which finger bends. The rest of the written sign supplies the meaning in its signed language.
SignWriting began in Denmark in 1974, when researcher Lars von der Lieth’s team at the University of Copenhagen asked Valerie Sutton to record signs and gestures from video. It began as DanceWriting, Sutton’s notation for dance movement, adapted for the upper body; it later grew into a way to write signs in many signed languages.
Technical movement notation; its place beside the hand shape identifies the finger that bends.
A lone 𝤖 is a movement component, not a complete written sign.

1Why does 𝤖 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
