What 𑚟 means

It marks an aspirated p. Release p with a puff of air. A Takri consonant has an unwritten vowel; a vowel sign changes it, while virama (a mark that removes the vowel) removes it.

How did Takri develop?

Takri descends from Sharada through Devāśeṣa, an intermediate script used for religious and official writing that emerged in the 14th century. Takri became distinct in the 16th century and served commerce and informal writing.

From the 17th century through the mid-20th century, Takri was official in several regional states. Fonts handle its regional letterform differences.
