What 𘡚 means
No: 𘡚 is a component used to index and describe Tangut characters, not a complete word. Components also appear in Ideographic Description Sequences (IDS), compact formulas showing how a character is built.
Within a full character, an element may help file it in a dictionary (a radical) or hint at its sound (a phonetic element). These roles can vary by character and analysis, so 𘡚 alone has no fixed gloss.
Why was Tangut created?
The Tangut script was created to write the Tangut language. The Western Xia state used it for official, private, and religious writing, including books, sutras, inscriptions, and manuscripts.
After the Western Xia period, Tangut continued under the Yuan and Ming dynasties, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming period. It has a Chinese-like character style but is a distinct script; modern dictionaries also differ in how they group and index its characters.
On its own, 𘡚 belongs in Tangut character indexing or analysis, not word-level writing.
A component is not a complete word; its role depends on the full character.
