Tangut Component-092

92/768

Use a Unicode-aware hexadecimal input method and a font that supports Tangut Components. 𘡛 is a structural lookup component, not a word to translate on its own; if it appears alone, treat it as a specimen. Tangut script was created for the Western Xia state and also served Buddhist, official, and literary writing.

What 𘡛 means

Use Unicode hex input and a Tangut-capable font. For Tangut typing, enter 1885B in a Unicode-aware hexadecimal input tool, then use a font that includes Tangut Components. Some keyboards or text fields cannot accept characters outside the basic multilingual plane; a missing-glyph box means the selected font lacks this character.

What does Tangut Component-092 mean?

It is a structural lookup component, not a word. In Tangut (also called Xixia), characters are built from components; scholars use component assignments to sort and find full characters in dictionaries. The assignment describes structure, not meaning, so 𘡛 has no fixed translation by itself.

The Tangut script was created in 1036 by order of Western Xia emperor Li Yuanhao as part of state-building; a native edition of the Buddhist canon was likely a main goal. It drew on Chinese writing visually and structurally without descending from Chinese, following the earlier script-making of neighboring Khitan states. Khara-Khoto manuscripts include Buddhist texts and secular works translated from Chinese; one undated manuscript probably comes from the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut writing outlasted Western Xia under Yuan and Ming rule, then became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.

What does it mean when someone sends Tangut Component-092 alone?

It is not a complete Tangut word on its own. The sender may be showing the glyph or testing font support; ask for the full character or its source before trying to translate it.

Specialist and typographic; by itself, it is not conversational language.

Do not translate a lone component as though it were a complete Tangut word.

Why does 𘡛 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
