What 𘢢 means
𘢢 is a component, not a standalone Tangut word. Scholars use these parts to index full characters and describe their structure. Unicode’s inventory combines different scholarly systems because none is standard.
The Tangut (Xixia) script was created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 to write Tangut. Its records include Buddhist texts, Chinese translations, primers, and other works. Use continued during the Yuan and Ming dynasties; the script was obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. Tangut characters can resemble Chinese characters, but Tangut is a separate script; these dates describe the script, not component 163.
Technical and archival. A box means the font or app lacks the glyph; its identity has not changed.
163 is an inventory label, not a Tangut word.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘢢 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut Components block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
