Text symbol

What 𘦥 means

A catalogued structural part, not a Tangut word.

Tangut components help scholars sort and describe characters; some are dictionary radicals, or lookup parts. “422” is a catalog label, not a definition.

The Tangut script was created around 1036 under Western Xia to write the Tangut language. The Sea of Characters, a Tangut rhyming dictionary from the mid-12th century, explained characters through parts borrowed from other characters; sound or meaning clues came from the source character, not the piece alone. Unicode’s list combines scholarly component systems.
