What 𘨻 means
It's a building block, not a complete Tangut word. Scholars use components to analyze character structure and index full characters; “572” is a Unicode label, not an old Tangut meaning.
In 1036, Xixia (Western Xia) ruler Li Yuanhao commissioned Tangut writing for state-building, Buddhist scriptures, and an identity distinct from Song China. The script drew on Chinese design without deriving from it. Nearby Khitan people had created two scripts about a century earlier, one largely based on Chinese. Khara-khoto's ruins preserve Buddhist and secular Tangut manuscripts, probably from the 12th or early 13th century.
