What 𘩧 means

“616” is an inventory label, not a word meaning.

Tangut components help index and describe full characters. This one's role depends on the character that contains it.

Why do scholars use Tangut components?

They help scholars describe and find whole Tangut characters.

The Tangut script, also called Xixia script, served Western Xia (1038–1227) in government records and Buddhist texts. By the mid-12th century, a dictionary called Sea of Characters analyzed characters through their parts.

Scholars built different component systems. Unicode's set combines forms from Tangut dictionaries and publications. Some are lookup radicals; others describe character structure.
